LED, SOLAR OUTDOOR STRING LIGHTS Q&A & SPECS : Does this market lighting have an on/off switch? Yes, on the back of the panel. Are the bulbs and battery replaceable? Yes to both. Do you need direct sunlight? No, indirect sunlight works too, but less well. Length: 27 feet. 12 bulbs, 20" between bulbs. The lighted portion is 20 feet; 6' between the solar panel and the first bulb. The LED bulbs last 20,000 hours. Light color: 3000K soft white. THE DETAILS- These strands include 12 G40 shaped LED bulbs. They have a color temperature of 3000k, and shine brightly, but not too harshly, at 1 watt per bulb. The LED's are wrapped in a layer of silicon for protection and also encased in durable plastic bulb covers to provide as much protection to the lights as possible. The bulb covers are 2 inches wide and the total length of cover and socket is 3.5 inches. EASY TO INSTALL, EASY TO USE- Set up is very easy, just hang the lights as desired, in canopied formations or straight across the space. Attach and set the panel somewhere it will get lots of sun, using either the clamp or stake to position it (both are included). The panel needs about 6 hours of sun for a full charge, and the switch needs to be in the on position while charging , but once fully charged, it will power your strand to shine for at least 6 hours after sundown. The photocell in the panel will turn the strand on automatically so that there's no additional work necessary after your initial setup. WHAT TO KNOW- Each strand is 27 feet long with 12 G40 bulbs spaced 20 inches apart (the lighted portion is 20 feet). There is 6 feet of space between the solar panel and the first light, and an additional 3 feet at the other end to secure the strand. We recommend using a guide wire as the sturdiest way to hang the strands, but you can also use zip ties or hooks to hold the main wire in place. I wanted lights that were not too bright, but illuminated the patio just enough for conversation and safety. The electrical outlets were rather far away, so I decided to try solar rather than have a long cord to the plug. These lights totally fit the bill. First day I put them up, the solar panel was only exposed for a few hours, but the lights came on after dark and were still on at 630 the next morning. We haven’t had inclement weather since installing so not sure yet about how weatherproof they areThese solar lights work well. I now have 4 sets of these around the perimeter of my back yard. They stay lit for many house. I would definitely recommend these to others.I strung these up on my screen back porch and they work great. They cast a lovely, gentle light as soon as the sun goes down---no need to turn them on and off---and give a festive look. The installation was fairly easy. If I had my druthers, I would make the string a few lights longer and the bulbs smaller. But I'm happy with this purchase overall and can recommend.Back yard fence lights. Easy to install. Would’ve liked a little more brightness. These solar string lights look great in my gazebo. I had to wrap the lights around the frame since they are quite long but worked out perfectly. I used three strands and ran them from one side to the other. The solar panels are hidden pretty well in my gazebo which made me happy. As soon as it gets dark outside they turn on. It is about 9:30pm in the picture. I have not turned them off and have had them on for about three weeks and they are still working. It has been hot and windy where I live and they are holding up just fine. I ordered the warmer color and they are still pretty bright. Not bad. Very happy with how this project turned out. Would definitely recommend them.Definitely five stars! I was very surprised actually with the durability and the brightness of them. I got the softer white / warmer Kelvin temp because these are still very bright. The ONLY thing is that the solar is so sensitive to light (which can be a good thing?). I have a mosquito candle near the panel and it catches it like crazy. The lights flicker a lot because of it - no big deal just gotta move the candle. Very happy with it!Being technical by nature this review is aimed at people who want details not described in most of the other reviews. I bought two sets of these light for a new, backyard pergola. Having read other reviews I was fully aware that these lights would not be as bright as hard-wired (110v) string lights. They are intended to provide low-level, mood/conversation lighting under my 14 x 17 pergola.First, it’s important to point out that the advertised length of 27 ft. represents the entire length of the product. More than 1/3 of that is the span of wire between the solar panel and the first light, which is 9.5 ft. I will attempt to include a diagram (picture) with this review that shows all the measurements related to this product. Also, the advertised distance between each bulb is 20 inches when in fact is 18.5 inches. There are 12 bulbs and total distance from bulb 1 to bulb 12 is 17 ft.Each bulb socket has a small hole on its end. The hole makes it convenient for hanging the lights and using an S-hook works really well. The wiring seems pretty solid and the quality overall is nice. The biggest unknown for me living in the hot desert will be seeing how well the product stands up to intense sun and heat. The first fail point is likely to be the battery. The advertised battery is a single, 1500mah, type 18650, 3.7V. It’s sealed inside the solar panel. I’d prefer if it was replaceable although there is male/female twist-connection between the panel and the sting of lights so at least the solar panel/battery unit can be replaced if need be.To mount the solar panel, which does not weigh very much at all, you have the option of using a stake (for ground mounting) or a large clip. The clip is plastic, fairly strong and well built. Although it does fit on my 2 x 4 pergola framing (actually 1.2 in.), due to the potential for very strong winds, I plan to forgo both of those mounting options and will develop my own to attach the solar panel to the top of the pergola.Overall I'm happy with the quality and the product works as expected. This is the second set I have purchased. The first set I bought lasted three years. They are not water proof. They are not great if you’re looking to use them to light up a space. For the price they are a great ambiance light and I like that you can clip the solar panel to a roof or stake it in the ground. The light stays lit most of the night and three years is pretty great ( I take them down in the fall ) being exposed to the rain. The lights arrived quickly but were not the ones ordered.Twelve foot string not 27 feet as advertised, smaller bulbs and no solar panel clip.I paid £29.99 for this product. Amazon sell what they sent me for £19.99.I contacted the customer service department who responded immediately offering me a free return/replacement. I asked if I could keep the lights they sent (actually very good) and they refund the difference in price. They did without hesitation which was impressive.Large, quality bulbs.I bought these to decorate my balcony, and couldn’t be happier. You can see the quality of these lights right out the box - they are well constructed and weatherproof, comparable to plug-in lights. These are extremely easy to setup - hang the lights (I used clips to hold them in place), connect them to the solar panel, place them in a spot with direct sunlight (use the stake if you’re placing the panel in soil, or the clip if you’re attaching them to a surface), and turn the panel on to charge. The panel is photovoltaic, so the lights charge during the day and come on automatically when it’s dark, so you never have to worry about turning them on/off ever. Just make sure you don’t place the panel around ambient lighting, or the lights may not come on.I should note that these are only 1w bulbs, so don’t expect to be reading a book under these lights. They’re mainly for mood/ambient lighting, and work great for that purpose. I would suggest getting 2 sets and overlap them if you want more light.Overall, a great set of lights at this price. These are not bright enough. They might only be good for decoration purposeIf you need something for general lighting purpose, you would need like a bigger string light with 1 - 2 watt led power per bulb. But those normally don't come with solar panel. You can try to use like beccalighting low voltage string light and wire with a automatic power supply to achieve the same result.I left 3 star because they are easy to installI thought it was quite pricey at first, but the build quality and how it still lights up after multiple rainy days, I think it’s worth the price. The length is pretty good, the wires look solid, the clips are pretty strong to hold on to my gutter. I live in an elevated suburb where it can get very windy and somehow it holds up well. I bought 4 and it lights up my backyard well for small gatherings, but supplement it with table lights if the gathering involves dinner. Longevity remains to be seen but mine seems pretty solid for a few months now.
