The concept is great. These solar lights are great for areas without electric outlets close by. They work great as long as you’ve got plenty of sunlight to charge them. I live in Georgia and our Winter days are fairly long. So it’s not really a problem. However, I ordered some for my Mom in Connecticut. They have a couple hours less daylight in the Winter than we do. The charge doesn’t last as long for hers. If it’s overcast they’re not going to charge either. Had 3 rainy days in a row and no lights.When they’re working they look great. Love the colors and light modes. The remote is good for turning on/off and changing modes. Never could get the timer function to work, though, and no instructions. When a vehicle head lights hit the solar panel the lights go out until the vehicle passes or they’re turned off. Still, I would buy them again.Works fine once I figured it out. There are no instructions, just a notice saying you have to push the "On" button on the back of the solar panel first before it will re-charge, however, there is no way to know when it is "On" or "Off" because the same button is used for both functions and in the sun while installing it, the lights would not turn on regardless of how I pressed the "On/Off" button. So I just left it knowing I had a 50/50 chance of being correct. At night the lights came on w/o me having to do anything. I also tested the remote to see the different patterns and colors. Some of the patterns have quick light movements which looked cool but would get tiresome after a while so set it back to the original slow blink pattern which is enjoyable.The lights are definitely bright at night. The remote has 3 different timer settings to shut off the lights but I just let mine run all night long as it appears that the sun charges the battery enough to last the entire night. I deducted one star because it needs better instructions.Solar panel worked great. I live in Nebraska, and already this has withstand rain, sleet, snow, melting snow, then snow again. All since I installed it in December. These are actually really bright and the remote works from my house to where they are set up on my detached garage, 30 feet away. There are plenty of options as for modes, and it was easy to install. I used the Christmas light clips. The string of lights is long! I wrapped my garage 3X with the lights. I was so pleased that I plan on ordered more but in soft white for the summer. My neighbors have been asking were I got them. Less than two days later they don't work at all and the remote is worthless.Should have gone ahead and installed a outdoor plug in against the landlord's wishes.
